Event : Sailing Crew Conquer Challenge 80

A beautiful Saturday saw the Lancashire Boys & Girls Clubs Challenger Sailing crew come together at Hutton Roof Crags to take on Challenge 80, and rock climb the equivalent of Angel Falls, the world’s highest waterfall. The event was used to raise funds towards the Challenger Sailing regatta that the crew are taking part in later in the year.

The morning saw two routes set up (easy & hard) and with the sun beating down it was tough going, especially for those who weren’t as confident as others with heights. However with everyone supporting each other the half way mark was reached which also signalled BBQ time.

After burgers, sausages and a bit of social time some new lines were rigged up in the shade. These were more to everyone’s liking and saw the group rattle up the second half of the challenge. In total the group managed 86 climbs in the allotted time, a great effort I’m sure you will agree. Everyone left the day with smiles and looking forward to the regatta in August.
