MYLOL Warning from Met Police

Met Police has advised schools to tell parents to delete the MyLOL app after concerns have been raised that it is being used by sexual predators.

“We strongly advise that you talk to your child about this and our advice would be to delete the app and block the website.”

On its website, MyLOL bills itself as the ‘#1 teen dating site in the US, Australia, UK and Canada’ and

claims to have more than 300,000 members around the world.
It invites users to meet ‘thousands of teenagers like you’ and then goes on to describe how users can ‘chat with members or privately with someone.’

Teenagers are encouraged to update a profile and share pictures. See link below for further information.

Leapfrog: Working with young people toolbox

Lancaster University have developed a collection of 8 tools for working with young people, available online for free to anyone. We’ve seen relatively widespread use of the tools, and seen them make a real difference to some of those who’ve used them. We’ve also just released a short film about the tools, so I am reaching out to the people that work with children and young people.

A collection of award-winning, flexible, ready-to-use tools that can help anyone to engage young people in creative, inspiring and effective ways.

Each tool was co-designed by either young people in collaboration with Child Action North West and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, or by professionals who work with young people every day. The tools reflect real experiences and challenges young people face and have proven themselves in the hands of young people, youth workers and engagement professionals alike.

The tools offer a new approach to engaging young people. They give young people inspiring, creative ways to articulate their ideas, but more importantly the tools offer ways of working that fit with the way young people think and develop ideas.

For further information please contact Gemma Coupe via email at: g.coupe1@lancaster.ac.uk
