Memberships for 2017-2018 are now due
This is a reminder that all memberships were due for renewal at the end of March and there are still quite a few outstanding. Please can you let me have your renewal forms and fee’s asap so that we can update our records, also please bear in mind if you have not renewed your membership and have booked sessions with any of our staff then these sessions should be charged at the non member rate of £110 for Sports2Go and £270 for trailblazers.
Whilst we will honour all current bookings at the members rate any bookings made from the 1st May will be charged the non members rate. Please follow the link below for full information and renewal forms on our website.

Enterprise start up Scheme
How much can your club generate from a £20 start-up donation?
Aim: To develop an enterprise scheme using a £20 start-up donation from LABGC to generate funding for own club.
Vision: Clubs are donated £20 from LABGC to start up their own in house enterprise scheme to generate funds for their own club over the period 17th April – 16th June 2017.
The clubs can use their ‘start up’ donation in any legal way to maximise the returns during this period. We would also like to see them have community involvement to help raise the profile of their club. We will post out ideas on how to use their £20 to maximise their profits.
The winners of the scheme will be judged on 4 criteria:

Gone Fishing, Coarse taster evening
Fishing Taster Evening & Competition on Wednesday 14th June 2017,5:30pm-8pm for 11-19 years,Cost £4 per person.
Taking plcae at Whitmore Fisheries,Kirkham, PR4 3HQ
We are holding the evening in conjunction with Blackpool Boys and Girls Club, whose staff will be on hand to offer handy hints and tips to help you land the big one and win the competition.
Unfortunately there is only enough space for 12 people maximum,all the tackle and bait required on the night will be provided,however, you may bring your own garden worms with you.
Due to the limited number of places and the expected high demand a maximum of 3 young people per club has been set. You can include reserves but these will be allocated on a first come first served basis if the original allocation is not filled.
As the number of places is limited an early reply is necessary. I would be grateful if you could return your entry forms no later than Friday 2nd June 2017.

Future Arts projects
We are in the process of applying to the Paul Hamlyn Foundation to run a digital arts project that focuses on what young people think of the world.
This would be an 8 week project for up to 12 young people using digital film and stop frame animation to create a body of work that represents the views and concerns that young people have about their futures. We are in the early stages of writing this bid so any comments or feedback at this stage would be very useful.

Building Better Opportunites
Building Better Opportunities - Invest in Youth
This is a new project that will support young people who are aged 15-24 and who are unemployed or economically inactive and not engaged in study.
To deliver this programme Selnet have formed a partnership of 45 mostly community, voluntary and social enterprise sector organisations across Lancashire who will work directly with each participant providing a range of guidance and information.
LABGC will be taking referrals for this programme from clubs and individuals across Lancashire and we will be working directly with 4 young people a year offering additional support and training. Our direct partners on this project are Rathbones and Barnardos who will provide one to one support, for young people addressing a range of often complex barriers that are specific to this age group.

Blackpool Boys and Girls Club Annual Charity ball
Blackpool Boys and Girls Club would like to invite you to join them at their annual charity ball.
This will be held on Saturday 1st July 2017 at 7.00pm at the Hilton Hotel, North promenade, Blackpool FY1 2JQ.
The evening will include a 4 course dinner, this is a Black tie event, cost £35 per person. Carriages at 1.00am

Dance taster sessions and classes
If you are looking to offer something new to your club then Louise could have the answer. This one off dance session give’s your members the opportunity to try dance in a fun and enjoyable environment.
This taster session is the perfect stepping stone to our three and five week courses which further explore dance and hip hop.
This session will be 2 hours long and will be delivered within your desired location. Time and dates are flexible to suit your club and this can be further discussed upon your enquiry. Cost per session is £30

TrailBlazers is our mountain bike programme. We offer a two session course, which comprises of basic bike checks and skill development which can be delivered at your club. This is followed by a trail riding session at Gisburn Forest which further develops the skills learnt in the first session.
LABGC supplies all the mountain bikes and relevant technical equipment for this activity but requires two support workers to be present.

NABGC 5aside Football Championships
This event will be taking place on Saturday 10th June at Trafford Sports Dome,Trafford Way, Trafford Park, Manchester, M17 8DD.
Cost—£25 per team.
Teams must be members of NABGC and must have permission to take part from their local county NABGC member. Maximum of TWO teams per county.
Please obtain & return the entry form to firstname.lastname@example.org along with your entry fee (cheques payable to NABGC) no later than Tuesday 30th May 2017. Any entries submitted after that date will not be eligible.

Prince's Trust Burnley
This is an action packed 12 weeks to develop Confidence, Leadership, Team building and Employability skills with an NVQ qualification. All at no cost to the student. We have relatively small teams with 2 full time staff and an onsite Social Work Student to provide support and mentoring, should a young person have the need.
We are running the next “Team” Programme from Burnley Fire Station. The next starting date for this is 22/05/2017.
As you may be aware, we are based in Burnley and students have the opportunity to learn at a fully operational Community Fire Station here at Belvedere Rd. This means students will do fire drills, safety, first aid and a host of other learning sessions designed for those who enjoy participating. We also incorporate a Residential week in the Lakes or similar involving exciting outdoor education and a 2 week work placement experience in an area of their choice .

2017 Wellbeing Conference for Children, Young people and Families
The Brathay Trust and the University of Cumbria are partnering for the 5th consecutive year to bring together practice, policy and research in leading wellbeing.
The focus of for 2017 is Leading Wellbeing within the context of children, young people and families. The conference will explore, share and take action on critical issues surrounding practice and research that supports children, young peoples and family’s wellbeing.
Day one of the conference focusses on leading the wellbeing of children, young people and families and day two focusses on how we might evidence wellbeing. There are a range of excellent local, national and international keynotes, space for practice and research based case studies, and open dialogue between practitioners, managers, researchers, academics and students.
